Service sucked. Food was not good. The price of the food was just as bad. $10.00 for a Ruben and 8 fries. I could have made one 100 time better at home.

Ordered the meatloaf dinner was supposed to come with "smashed" potatoes and we also ordered the turkey cranberry sandwich. No potatoes and a very dry sandwich. We pointed this out to the waitress and 20 minutes later we still had neither issue resolved. At that point everything was cold so we were ready to leave. We complained to the owner and all we got was that he would talk to the waitress later, no offer of any discount or anything. Will not be going back.

A great new addition to the South Burlington restaurant scene, the Vermont Sports Grill took over the old Hooter's location and cleaned up the building nicely. Lots of TV's to view all sports events, and very good food. I've had one poor experience in about 10 visits, so I don't give it 5 stars yet, but they responded very nicely to my complaint and I expect they will only continue to improve. They have added a nice Sunday brunch, all you can eat with some cooked to order items. The staff is usually very friendly, lots of beers and drinks on hand. It's a nice family spot, and a nice watering hole.

I absolutely love Vermont Sports Grill! I've eaten here many times over the past two years, but only recently joined Yelp, so my review is a composite of my experiences. I think atmosphere, food quality, service, and price for experience are the most important indicators--that being said--VSG excels on all marks! The atmosphere has a local sports bar and grill feel. First and foremost, the restaurant has always been spotless and extremely clean. There's a combination of booths, high-top tables, and bar-seating. Although it has a sports theme, it's not overpowering if you're not a sport fan. There're small, medium, and large flat-screen TVs visible from many spots inside (but they're not overwhelming or distracting). The food is delicious! The free cup of soup is an awesome addition! I love the chili and almost always get it--it's melt-in-your-mouth good! Just to diversify, I tried the tomato bisque, which is also great. Both the chili and tomato soup are fresh and delicious! I've tried many menu items, so I'm going to throw out some of my favorites: The Lum's Burger! What an awesome tribute to the former Lum's (chain that used to occupy the same space)! The burgers are huge--you will not leave hungry. Fries, onion rings, and tatters (yep!) are very good too! Salads are often overlooked, but whenever I need my veggies, VSG delivers the best. The Five Cheese Mac n' Cheese is classic comfort food. The Steak Philly is excellent--especially since they use real cheddar instead of processed oil "cheese." The Pulled Pork and Fish Sandwich are fantastic too! The beer selection is good--I usually go for Switchback--which they have on tap. The service is top-notch! Every time you're greeted at the door--with genuine warmth and a 'local' we're glad to see you feel! I'm not a fan of high-top tables, so I always ask (hope I'm not being a pain) if we can have a booth (so my feet can touch the floor). The staff always make you feel welcome and check-in with your table just the right amount. Service is always fast and friendly. The price is very reasonable--not too high, but not too cheap--it's just right for the dining experience. The pre-dinner soup is an extra bonus! Obviously, I love the place--but I want to throw out a few suggestions for the owners and management. First and foremost: you have an excellent establishment! Being a local, though, I've never seen or heard any advertising on radio or TV--and you should! You offer an all-around great experience to your guests! Get the word out! You have the media infrastructure (TVs visible from every seat) to offer a unique dining experience. Even if it's just an every so often thing, you're fully equipped to take half the restaurant's TVs and do movie nights (kind of like a dinner theater) while staying true to the sports theme. Try some event-style nights to bring in new customers and advertise it. I know advertising can be expensive--I "liked" you on FaceBook and frequently recommend VSG to my friends--you have a solid establishment and I want to see you become a new local tradition! All the best!

Great for groups. My sons team has come often for pre-game dinners. Service is always friendly. The food is simply ok. Not bad and not spectacular. I doubt that much if any of the food is prepared from scratch on site.

Great menu, Awesome service, Good location. Will be going more often! Love the Trivia Night idea!

My boyfriend and I stopped in for lunch after driving up from Providence. We don't know the area so we just found a spot near our hotel that was open for lunch and went in. The place was ok, big and bright and clean. They have a lot of tv's and the decor was pretty cool looking. We sat at the bar, and it was quiet on a Friday afternoon and the bartender was very friendly and accommodating. There wasn't much of a selection on tap, mostly darker beers. The offer a free cup soup with their meals so I got the clam chowder. We also ordered a pulled pork sandwich and fish and chips. The chowder was great, and the fries were good but the sandwich and fish were just ok.. It was an okay experience but definitely not worth the $45 tab for three beers and lunch.

For some reason I only think of this place as a food option once or twice a year. I always get the same thing...Charlie Red Hots (michican dogs). Reminds me of sitting with my dad on lower Church street. The dogs are butterflied, the sauce is almost identical to Charlie's and they use tin foil (which I had forgotten about) to serve it. My family gets other things and all are good. Great place for beers and watching the game(s).

Love going here for a quick delicious dinner. Everything seems homemade. The Mac cheese menu is out of this world. My boyfriend loves the wings every time. Recently got the chili cheese fries and I am IN LOVE. They are perfect. Chili tastes homemade and the ratio of chili cheese and fries is dead on. Also got the French bread pizza app tonight and didn't love it. First thing I've eaten here that I didn't love. The service is always great, too. Quick friendly and not overly pushy.

This is one of my favorite places to grab lunch or dinner! Last time I tried the BLT and C (chicken) sandwich and it was really good. Plus, you get a free bowl of soup. The atmosphere is very family friendly, but it's also a great place to go with a group of friends. There are TVs everywhere, which is great when a big game is on or if you just like watching TV with your dinner. I'd recommend Vermont Sports Grill to all of my friends.
(5)Kelly D.
Great meal, great service, no wait, would definitely return!! Lots of homemade menu items!

The food is really not good, even for kind of fried-food comfort food (not being an haute cuisine snob). Soups were pretty much from a can and old, my entree, mac and cheese, had such a weird tang I couldn't eat it. And I am not. picky. about mac and cheese. You may find a dish you like - my dad said his hot hamburg was ok and my mom said her Reuben was decent. Beer-battered fries were ok if not too flavorful. The weird thing to me was how dead quiet it was even during Sunday Patriots game - should be prime time. The restaurant area is really big, but only 8 parties total and we are the only ones watching and cheering for the game. To me the fun of watching game at the bar is the hype and excitement of other fans - didn't get that here. It is nice though if you really want quiet so you can hear the game and not have a rowdy bunch of distractions. There are tons of tvs and lots of games on if you want to watch other games.

Service = Fast & Friendly Atmosphere = Sports Bar-y (tv screens everywhere and a variety of games playing) Price = Average Parking = Ample Food = Cheese Wiz on the nachos = Awful! The portion size was perfect and all other ingredients were well done. However, the processed cheese food product instead of fresh grated cheese absolutely ruined them. When our server asked how our food was, we expressed this to him. When he returned, he shared the kitchen staff had said it was to keep costs down. Most people would not balk at paying a few cents more for fresh ingredients. This place could easily be a great local public house/sports bar AND make a profit with just a touch more effort on the foods. Note: this was the only food I sampled and MIGHT consider going again. However, I would ask more details about the ingredients before placing my order.

Great quality/quanity. Great place for sports lovers! Beer is fresh! Chris the manager is the man!

Absolutely the worst meal I've had in 20 years. There were three of us and we were appalled by the (lack of) quality of the food. My wife's tomato bisque soup was tomato paste. My guacamole looked like the cat threw up. Zero stars. Do yourself a favor - find another restaurant.

I've been a patron of this place for years. I love the Irish Nacho's and I think Wednesday night may be my favorite night. That's one dollar night, they have a half dozen items you can order for a buck. I usually order all of them and it's difficult to eat it all. The service is always good, the food hot and the place is nice and clean. My favorite restaurant for wings and beer drinking food. I would like to see a nice steak and baked potato added to the menu.....maybe a weekly steak event.
(5)N K.
I've been here many many times over the years. Always been pretty good. But the last two times I've been in just bad. Tonight our party of nine was underwhelmed. Only one person actually finished their meal - most just couldn't stomach it. Too bad.
(2)M K.
Gotta love anywhere that gives you a cup of soup for free. Really good quality food with generous portions for the price. The atmosphere is comfortable, for a sports bar, but the food is great. We had wings and salads tonight, and we'll have enough for lunch tomorrow.

So went to go see the UVM Hockey game against Union today and was greeted by the manager (owner?) who promptly asked if we had a reservation. First off, it's a wing joint, not the Bellagio. Secondly, no I don't have a reservation. Rather than suggesting a later time or having options for myself and my pregnant girlfriend, the person in charge simply turned away my business. Don't worry Vermont Sports Grill, you won't get any of my business, or anyone asking of my experience. I promise.

While in Burlington for a week, my husband and I had dinner from here and the food was so good we choose to have our final dinner ofvthe week here as well. the Chicken pot pie soup was incredible! Hubby and I each choose a different mac meal and I have to say probably the best I have ever tasted. I most like we ont be back to V ermont until next year, but I am looking forward to trying something different from the Vermont Sports Grill.

Went with our kids and had an average time. The food was very average and the prices were very average. If you are looking for a beer, a burger, and multiple TV screens in a very unpretentious atmosphere, this is the place to go. We had some chicken wings to start. They were decent. My wife had a Cobb salad. It was one of the biggest things I've ever seen in a restaurant in my life. It probably could have said two people easily. She did not even eat a quarter of it. I had a Lum's burger, which has cheese, bacon, sauce and onions on it. Tasted pretty good. I asked for it to be "pink", which on the menu said medium rare to medium. They overcooked it and I would estimate that it was medium well. That was the only real downside of the dinner. If you have no thoughts of a high-end meal, this place will do!
(3)Coco B.
A co-worker and I came here for lunch and we'll definitely coming back. I got the cheddar and bacon wings and let me tell you, WORDS CAN'T DESCRIBE HOW GOOD THEY WERE! The guys that work there are really nice. Now, if they can start showing the UFC/MMA fights everything will be perfect!
(5)Kristin B.
It was ok. That's about it. I ordered a Switchback and it was tasted flat, but I guess I was the only one that thought it. The food is ok, but not great. The service was odd. Lots of waitstaff, yet slow service and tables left unbused a lot longer than acceptable. The turnaround would be quicker if they were more productive. I would only go back if I was in a pinch and had no where else to go...

Unprofessional...

Charred burgers and perfectly cooked fries! TVs with sports are everywhere :) It's a great spot to catch a game and some tasty chow.

I never visited this place when it was hooters, but as VSG I felt like I was at a hooters, minus the waitresses. The menu is too big, when a menu is that large its almost given that the quality of food is going to lack. And that's exactly what it did. Some of the menu items got me excited, but I was disappointed. I really wanted to like this place as it seemed like it would be a cool place to go watch football, but thats about all I would return for. I had a burger and my wife had some mac and cheese. Wasn't terrible, but I felt like I was eating at friendly's. Also had a plate of hot wings that weren't very good either... Overall very disappointing and would only return for a pat's game and some beers.
(2)Casey R.
Food was decent, service was decent, beer menu was below average. I don't care what people like to say about the local micro brews, but they are not amazing. Overall I'd go elsewhere if I were in the area again.
(3)John M.
Pleasantly surprised. We were looking for a place to eat that was kid-friendly for a group of 11 after the Vermont Marathon and we made reservations at the Vermont Sports Grill. Staff was friendly and attentive - table was situated right near a big screen television showing a NASCAR race. Kids enjoyed it. Food is typical pub fare - perfectly acceptable. Beer was cold, food was hot, great place to relax and enjoy post-marathon. A fine sports bar/pub.

Had I reviewed this place 2 years ago I probably would have given it 5 stars. I have seen this place gradually decline in some areas, and I find it sad because it had been a great place to go. It's close to the airport and a great sports bar for anyone traveling or lives close to the area. It was THE place to go for a place that had tvs all over the room and trivia going before Buffalo Wild Wings opened on Shelburne Rd. I think that hurt their business, and they have been trying to make up for it since. Tuesdays they have a comparable wing deal to BWW if you can eat a lot. All you can eat for $10. Some of the flavors are pretty cool, and I know my husband liked the buffalo blue cheese because it had crumbles of the cheese on it as well as a mixed sauce with dressing. The wings themselves are ok, but the flavors make them. Wednesdays is my favorite night because it's dollar menu night. Who doesn't like a good deal? Sliders, sides of fries, soup, hotdogs, and sides of mac and cheese for $1. I can eat for $3 and have a beer and not feel guilty about going out. Regular menu prices have gone up, and it's unfortunate that the options aren't as good. In the past year it seems all menu items went from having a soup or salad bar to start, with a choice of a side (fries, onion rings, potato puffs, apples etc) to only coming with soup. That was my experience a couple of months ago. This past Saturday I went in, and the side now is chips, and for an extra charge you can get fries etc. That would be fine if I wasn't already paying $10 for a burger or sandwich. It's also about $13-$15 for mac and cheese dishes. I really don't understand the new trend with places serving all different kinds of mac and cheese, but it doesn't cost so much to make that it makes sense to charge those prices. My husband got a salad that was huge and worth the price. He recommends it and thought it was a good value. He was dissapointed they no longer had the cold dish sald that had tuna, chicken salad and others all piled together. Again... one of the ways the menu changed.

I visited there today to watch football. Seems simple for a sports bar. However... 1. The televisions in the booths are linked together and can only be controlled by the remote that the hostess controls. 2. The wings. It doesn't matter which of the 12 flavors you select. The all taste like a medium buffalo. 3. Service. The waitress tried very hard but the setup was all wrong. I ordered an appetizer then waited about 10min to order my meal. Still... somehow... the both came out at the same time. Finally. I will say that I have tried to like this place. This was my 3rd try. I like the locally owned and operated. But the place has to step it up a notch or else I don't give it much more than another year in business.

I stopped in last week with a friend of mine. Right off the bat, you notice that the people that work there are REALLY friendly. Believe me, I appreciate really wonderful customer service. It truly makes a difference if I'll be back or not, even if the food isn't the most amazing. So, A+ for terrific service! We just shared an appetizer (time was tight) and it was decent - not the best nachos ever (nacho cheese PLUS shredded on nachos is a little odd - I'd much rather have the shredded alone instead of the nacho cheese often available at gas stations and movie theaters). The beer was cold and available in large sizes on tap (bonus!). I'll have to try it again soon to see how the other menu items fair - I anticipate that they are fairly mainstream but good (although not the WOW factor). It's definitely a sports bar with sports bar food. So, that is expected! Lots of TVs for sure so if you have ADD and you are there for a serious conversation with a spouse, it would probably be best to go elsewhere! :)

I just had one of the most disgusting meals of my life at Vermont Sports Grill. Nothing was fresh and everything was sooo salty. I don't think I have ever had so much salt in one meal. My friend and I ordered all different things from the menu and are both feeling horrible right now. Never eat at this place! Even the drinks were bad. Very disappointed.
(1)Des D.
VSG is a pretty good sports bar in a meh location. I do enjoy hanging out at this place since it sits midway between my office and my apartment. There's always a drink special, always some food specials and the crowd is very friendly. They serve a very good brunch on Sundays, but I've only been once, so I don't think it's my place to comment on it. From what I understand, the place used to be a Hooters, so that accounts for the huge parking lot I guess...
(4)Seth L.
I love VSG, the staff is friendly, the prices are low, and the portions are huge. The $2 "upgrade" to French onion soup is a worthy addition to a meal. They always have some sort of daily special. My favorite dish of theirs is the "winner winner chicken dinner". It's a plate of moist and crispy fried chicken that would make Gus Fring proud.
(4)Lisa A.
I had heard the VSG had good food so decided to check it out for an appetizer and a drink. Much to my disappointment, the following unfolded....food came before the drinks, the nachos were basically the worst my partner and I have ever had (who doesn't melt the cheese on nachos!)...and the salad we ordered was basically a head of iceberg lettuce with some garnish on the side. Needless to say, we will not be going back and will not recommend it to any friends. Oh yeah, when we were given the check, we weren't even given a pen! Come on people, BASICS!

First time visitor today for the 4:25 football games, on the recommendation of some friends who had gone previously. It was a spur of the moment decision to head over, so I had already filled up on food beforehand. All the same, had a cup of the Onion + Ale soup; it was quite a large portion for the price, and very appropriate on such an awful day (Rain, low 50s). One suggestion would be less breadcrumbs and cheese - it was more or less mush by the time I reached the last quarter of the crock. Other than that, just had a couple beers, including one of the house brews (though I learned they are not a brewpub...idea time?). All of those were refreshing. Price points were low and the value very high, that is definitely a plus for spending several hours at one location. Previously, my group went a well-advertised national chain across town for our football fix...but we decided that we will be changing venue here on out. Will make sure not to eat anything the night before, let alone the day of - meal portions look to be huge. Other things: Wi-fi, free but password protected. Ask your server. Needed - no cell service (at least 3G/4G) in the interior tables. Also, pro tip: if the staff are going to put the sports pages up on the wall in the restroom, it may be a good idea to cut out the ads for competitors up the street? Just sayin'...
(3)John B.
I had the wings, Buffalo Hot.. They were awesome. I run with a medical transport company so I'm over there all the time. Now I know they're there, I will be a regular. I'm in Canton, NY and go to Burlington two or three times a week...
(5)T B.
Good place to sit down & watch the game. Bar area is nice & the bartenders are friendly. I like talking with Ashley & the taller Jen. The nachos are pretty good but really it's a two-person serving. Wing night is a pretty good deal. Sunday brunch is great & you can always find a seat.
(4)Dan S.
Vermont SportsGrill is a great place to watch the game and have some wings. Some of the best, if not THE best wings in the area. Great weekly specials. The meatloaf special is a meal for four! AYCE wings for $9.99 on Tuesdays are a great value. Dinged them for a star because they recently switched to plastic cups for drafts, otherwise this would have been a five star recommendation.

My son and I were in Williston because of his hockey tournament, and our hotel recommended the VSG as a good place to go on Friday night. We liked it so much, we went back for lunch on Saturday and Sunday, too. First, the place is a sports bar with TVs everywhere, but not so obtrusive that that's all you see. Some booths have small, flat-screen TVs so each side of the table has a view. Assuming you're there for the food, you won't be disappointed. The menu covers the basic pub grub - wings, soups, salads, burgers, sandwiches, and mac-and-cheese, but it's the number and quality within each category that's impressive. Our first night we went with half the team and parents, so we sampled much of the menu. The wings, buffalo and house special, were huge hits. Good size wings, crispy and great sauces, particularly the house special. The mac-and-cheeses were extrodinary. At our table on Friday night, one person ordered the basic while another ordered the lobster mac. She was pulling out large pieces of lobster tail, while both dishes were creamy and cheesy. My son wanted to go back for lunch so he could have the mac-and-cheese. He had the maple ham on Saturday, which was sweet but wonderfully matched with the salty cheese and ham, and the bacon-cheeseburger on Sunday, which was like two meals in one. I had a buffalo chicken salad. There were three large chicken tenders on a mountain of greens with diced carrots, tomatoes and celery artfully arranged and topped by a generous portion of blue cheese. Terrific! Three guys ordered the steak tips on Friday night, and they were all very happy with it. Burgers were large - half-pound -- and cooked to order. I had a black-and-blue burger on Sunday, and it was one of the best bar burgers I've had in a long time. I also had the fish and chips on Saturday. One enormouse filet of cod, batterend and fried until it cracked when I bit into it. The tartar sauce was a little wan, but after all the food we saw and tasted there, this was my only quibble. The beer selection was solid with about half a dozen craft beers, many of them local. Oh, and all dishes are served with a free bowl of soup! Chili, chicken-and-rice, onion ale (aka French onion), and chicken pot pie (with a freshly baked pastry triangle sticking up in the bowl. I had or tried them all, and I wasn't disappointed with any of them. There are probably a few details I've forgotten, but suffice it to say that if you're looking for basic pub grub gone the extra yard -- and then some -- VSG is a great place to go.
